In 2009, We Made A Decision That Changed Our Lives Forever: Chuck It All, Build An Online Business And Get Our Lives Back.
Hi! We’re Steph And Dave Robey And We Are Serial Entrepreneurs.
Unlike many in the Network Marketing and MLM industry, I’m not going to tell you we had NO prior business or marketing experience. Our experiences in life are EXACTLY what brought us to this industry.
AND – THIS INDUSTRY is what seriously taught us to GENERATE LEADS online despite the fact that we were already involved with the Internet AND Marketing. (Read the line above twice.)
You may share some of these same experiences we reveal in our confessions below. When we arrived in this industry, we were just looking for two things: time and money. The order didn’t really matter, but it had to be both.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #1 : We Traded Our Lives For Money.
Dave and I both started out as freelancing entrepreneurs – consultants. With freelancing, you make money when you work, and when you’re not working – you’d better be looking for work.
Truth is, we ended up working 98% of our lives, and getting paid for about 49% of our time. God forbid we took a vacation: no work, no money. We quickly learned, in order to make money AND have any time with our family, we’d have to leverage our time.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #2: We Traded Other People’s Lives For Money And Excedrin.
So, we built our first real business, a brick and mortar company, and began leveraging the time of others. We had employees and payroll, insurance, rent and office hours and headache after headache after headache after headache.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #3: We Despised Being Called “Boss.”
As the “boss” you do your job; watch to ensure everyone is doing their job; and have the pleasure of assuming all of the financial responsibility. You get office hours: 7 to 9, and maybe you can have Sunday off and you are the last to get paid. Always.
You have to “let people go” and there’s nothing fun about that even if it is tattoo-ed Gina who spends all day social “notworking.”
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #4: We Honestly Believed A Single Product Would Make Us Rich.
Dave and I had an epiphany: design a product and sell it a gazillion times. Retire before we’re 40. Soon, investors were knocking on the door and there was discussion of an IPO. One product turned into thirty and before long we had literally thousands of products – on the Internet.
We were back to employees and office hours. Only, this time it was 24/7 and we were up to our eyeballs in venture capital responsibility, accountable to a business partner – NO vacation time, NO time off and believe it or not… NO time to enjoy the money.
Then, came the *Dot.Bomb*.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #5: We Longed For Simple 9-to-5 Jobs With Steady Paychecks, A 401K, Paid Vacations, And Decent Health Benefits.
(Careful what you wish for…)
Being a serial entrepreneur, I was recruited by a corporate friend to start-up a new business unit. Cool, I thought, a “start-up” with a steady paycheck! Soon I was Vice-President and my department was the darling of the company.
But, I was working non-stop, again, only this time for someone else. And, I was on an electronic leash – tethered to the office 24/7 via cell phone and email, regardless of the day. Plus a 2-hour daily commute.
WHAT WAS I THINKING??????
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #6: We Lied When We Said “We’re Perfectly Happy”.
Both kids soon to be in college and Dave and I felt stuck in corporate jobs, tied to paychecks. It seemed like our entire life had just slipped away while we were hard at work.
Plus, the economy hit our investments hard, the equity in our home had just flown out the window – and with the kids gone, all we wanted to do was escape the rat race. Hmmmm, if we could only find a way to make a living from anywhere…
Then Dave did something every desperate, intelligent person seeking answers today does:
Dave Googled, “Make $100K from home.”
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #7: It’s True, We Clicked On One Of THOSE Internet Ads.
UP POPPED A 3-LINE AD:
Entrepreneurs Wanted
Realistic $250K income
potential your first year.
Dave clicked on the little ad and then he put his name into the opt-in form to “Find-out How!”
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #8: We Secretly Started A Business, At Night, In Our Kitchen.
Immediately, we had a website and were driving traffic. Our first team member came within the first week and more followed. Woohooo – We were making money! Just the two of us, from anywhere: over breakfast in the morning, the corner salad bar at lunchtime, in the car during our commute.
We even rendezvoused a couple of times remotely from our corporate offices.
By day we were executives, and by night we were Internet Marketers and we couldn’t tell a soul because we were afraid everyone would think we were NUTS. Leave our “jobs,” in this economy, with the kids in college?
HECK YEAH!!!!! It was costing us money to stay at our jobs at this point.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #9: I Was Dragged Into This Business, Kicking And Screaming.
Publicly, I’m apologizing to my husband. I was simply, flat-out-wrong… This IS real, but I was not a believer – at first.
We have no employees, or products to produce, let alone order, auto-ship, inventory, warehouse and ship out again. Compared to our other business ventures this was cheap to get up and running and we enjoy 80% margins.
Thanks to the Internet, our business is open 24/7, with or without us, even when we’re asleep, traveling, visiting the kids, taking care of our folks, or out for a mid-day run just because it’s a beautiful day and we can.
Dave – you were 100% right: This IS Money AND Freedom.
Serial Entrepreneur Confession #10: We Were Caught Doing The “Cha-ching” Sign In Public.
Look, there are no words that I could use to describe how wonderful this industry, business, and people are and you’d never believe me if I told you how much money we make. As people come through your website, you too will hear “cha-ching.”
Our kids’ now question why we didn’t do this sooner. We’ll never get back the time it took us to realize what we know now AND we’ll never go back.
Thank God that we understood - we needed to make a change to change our lives. Thank God we made that change.
Our Final Confession: At The End Of The Day, It’s NOT About The Money.
Internet marketing is a skill that can be used to sell any product. Serial entrepreneur not required.
People are out there right now, online, looking for you and the fastest way for you to get found is to follow a system for your online business, regardless of business model or size, or YOUR experience.
Are you ready to take your business to the next level? Ready to quit chasing people and instead attracting them to you?
If so, we’ll teach you. We’ll teach you EXACTLY what we learned. Our greatest satisfaction comes from this… We’ve dedicated our life to teaching others because it has had such an amazing impact on our own lives.
In fact, making massive amounts of money is really great. But, nothing beats teaching others to do the same and “magically” transforming their lives into fairy tales with happy endings.
So, Prince (or Princess) Charming, it’s a choice, so choose wisely!
110% Dedicated to Your Success,
Steph and Dave Robey
